Apple iPad is now available at Walmart. That plus New York Times iPad app gets a makeover, teens texting like there's no tomorrow, and Netflix streaming for the PS3 just got even better. A Friday round-up of tech headlines to get you caught up and ease your way into the weekend.
Distribution seems to be key operative for Apple these days when it comes to its hot tablet. With over 3,000 stores across the U.S., Walmart has begun to sell the iPad. However, the standard Walmart discounting does not apply: $499 for 16GB Wi-Fi to $829 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G edition. Keep it simple must be thinking, and avoid channel conflict; just make it available in more places for more people must be the thinking out of Cupertino. According to some reports, the Apple iPad, with 8.5 million units sold, now the fastest selling gadget in history. The device can also be purchased at Target retailers. If you've recently gone for a couple of 88mph spins in a souped-up DeLorean outfitted with a flux capacitor running at 1.21 jigawatts and have somehow ended up in an alternate universe in which internet memes don't exist, then you may not yet have read about the 12-year old McDonald's Hamburger that still looks just like a McDonald's Hamburger. For the rest of you who are already with me, you'll have to indulge me for a moment while I fill-in the time travelers as to what's been going on.
Back in 2008, Karen Hanrahan, of the blog Best of Mother Earth posted a picture of a hamburger that she uses as a prop for a class she teaches on how to help parents keep their children away from junk food. A noble goal, and one I fully approve of.
The thing is, the ha...

It's Commit to Fit Friday. Time for a fitness update and a giveaway!
This past week as been a bit strange for me on the fitness front. On Sunday morning, I woke up wicked early and ran 8.5 miles, as part of my half marathon training. I felt great during and after the run. I had a bit of soreness on Monday and Tuesday, but nothing horrible or debilitating.
I went to the gym on Monday morning to work out some of the soreness on the elliptical machine. We had 2 occupational therapy appointments on Tuesday and Wednesday morning, so I couldn't get to the gym. I had planned to go to the gym yesterday, but decided not to because it seems I have fallen victim to the nasty respiratory yuck that my children seem to have brought home from school. I decided to take it easy and go for a brisk walk instead.
I'm hoping to run 4 or 5 miles this weekend, if I'm feeling up for it.
So...you're jumping back on the fitness bandwagon. We've got tunes...but what about some workout clothes! As ...
